First Impressions

Serving as the primary greeting space to the campus, the Corson Lobby at Sunnyside Retirement Community welcomes visitors and families to the Memory Care Center, Assisted Living Unit, Marketing Department, and Chapel. Additionally, this reception space assists residents accessing amenity services such as physical therapy, the medical clinic, and the salon and spa. Having just completed the renovation of this active area, our design goal was to create a friendly and professional first impression space to support the Sunnyside brand.

The existing 2-story light monitor infuses the reception area with daylight and inspired the light and bright color scheme of warm neutrals, creamy whites, and rich wood tones. A custom desk supports the multitude of reception activities required daily, and comfortable lounge chairs invite residents and visitors to stop for a chat.

Renovation of the Chapel moved this previously traditional space in a contemporary direction, with modern, cylinder pendant lights and brighter wall colors. The addition of horizontal trim work and a neutral color palette creates a calming sanctuary feel that highlights the jewel-toned stained-glass windows.

Flexible Chapel furnishings and an organized floorplan allow this large space to easily transition from church services to a variety of fellowship hall events.
